Victoria, BC – Barnacle Systems, the maker of BRNKL, won the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce’s 2020 Business Award for Innovation. BRNKL is an award-winning security and monitoring system for boats and RVs that protects recreational, military, and industrial customers around the world.
“Our team works hard to solve problems with innovative hardware and software. It’s an honour to win this award in a city full of exceptional technology companies,” says Darren Beckwith, Director of Engineering at Barnacle Systems. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Barnacle Systems launched BRNKL Mate, which works as an expansion to the BRNKL system. “What’s special about BRNKL Mate is that it merges the smart home with the smart boat.” The BRNKL Mate has integrations with third-party wireless sensors, including Samsung SmartThings devices. “With a Mate, a boater can pick up a wireless device at Best Buy or Home Depot and quickly connect it themselves in order to add additional security features on their BRNKL system,” explains Beckwith. BRNKL will continue to integrate with additional third-party smart home brands to enable new and innovative features that benefit boaters.
